Great pictures, typical Edinburgh weather! Of course you also have some great Yorkshire countryside to go kilt walking in.

Dude! You're a better model than the girly boys on the rental/sales sites.

What strikes me most is that you are smiling and look naturally happy in your photos. Too many photo postings have grumpy looking people who appear to be somber to downright miserable in their kilts.

Well I can't speak for Yorkshire, but I wear a kilt every day here in Derbyshire and tend to alternate bike rides with walks in the hills around here and there is no shortage of those. Never had any adverse comments, mind you, I frequently encounter more cattle and sheep than people so can't answer for what the wildlife think. I also walk into town quite often and the only comments have been complimentary, even in my most casual kilt garb. Occasionally a fellow Scot will engage me in conversation and ask where I'm from although probably the most frequent questions are about the tartan.

Sometimes when I set out I'm not sure where I'm going to end up or what I'm going to encounter on the way. Crossing barbed wire fences is probably not something you want to do with an audience when kilted, but other than that and nettles, for which I just pull the hose tops up, I find the kilt the ideal garment for walks. I don't normally wear any of my better quality kilts for walks unless I know the terrrain and what I'll encounter. Thorns and thistles have a nasty habit of snagging the materal! I've done it for so long now, I rarely give it a second thought and quite often forget that what I am wearing is not what most people expect to encounter on a daily basis - even in Scotland.

Ha! Thanks ibrew4u, very kind of you to say so. Why should anyone be grumpy looking in a kilt?! I think partially my happy expression was that we were on our way downhill from Arthur's Seat at this point!

tpa, I love that you are wearing a kilt every day in Derbyshire! That is great! It is so beautiful and I have actually often thought of walking in the Peaks with my kilt on and after my recent hike in one they are far easier walking in than trousers. Perhaps we should meet up for a kilted hike some time?

Sure, almost anytime to suit. I make a point of getting out at some point almost everyday and, although officially retired, work from home so can adapt to suit. I'll pm you some details.

To me that is modern or contemporary kilt wear! You could be in jeans or cords even a walking shorts with what you have on. The kilt is simply substituted in place of pants.
