The PhotoBucket thing has ruined most of the old posts and threads on all the sites I visit.

I think this is the only site that automatically locks threads after a time. This has the disadvantage of preventing people who have migrated their images to another host from posting follow-up posts with working photos.

But probably it's a good thing, because it lets the old threads with dead photos fade away. Anyone wanting to post photos will of necessity create a new thread with photos hosted on a new site.

I don't care for the built-in photo thing this site has, where a thumbnail shows up and you have to click on it to see it then click on it again to make it go away. Why? Because you can't compare things by seeing two or more fullsize photos at the same time, perhaps from different posts, like you can if fullsize photos show up in the posts. (Such as comparing the cuts of two different kilt jackets, or comparing the pleating options by looking simultaneously at two photos on two posts of the backs of two different kilts.)

In any case I've been resizing my photos to a fairly standard size and putting them up on Imgur, which so far has worked well.

Terry, I understand you have used postimg this time, but for the future Irfanview is a lot more flexible. Check out this link, it was written in respect of resizing avatars, but can equally be applied to any size picture, you just change the desired output size.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Postimage and Ifranview are different sorts of programs. Postimage is an on-line hosting site Ifranveiw is a image viewing program.

You would use IfranView to look at and alter your photos then upload them to Postimage for storage.

I quite agree, Steve, I just mentioned it as the OP was about uploading as opposed to storage and the usual problems relate to photo size and or orientation and frequently have exposure issues as well, all of which can be sorted in Irfanview,(exposure to a degree), on a Windows computer but not a Mac.

The OP lives up island from me, in an area where they will sometimes experience slower connection speeds and limited bandwidth. His primary problem was not wit the photos themselves but getting the photo from his hard drive to X Marks.
We solved that problem with an external host.
He has not had any problems since loading his photos to a hosting site.
