You need to save them to you desktop and the use a graphic programme to resize them down to something like 1000 pixals wide.

Well well... does one nowadays really have the choice of colour way? I get that custom weaves from Dalgliesh can be virtually anything you want, but from say Lochcarron, you'd surley only be able to get their standard tartan wouldn't you?

Yes one does but less so if one only looks at one weaver. That said, the stock ranges from all the weavers are pretty uninspiring compared to what is possible and what was done historically. Look for example at this piece. And not forgetting the setting that the STA did for HRH.

Ultimately it's down the an individual's budget but a custome weave is not necessarily so expensive as one might think.

Hmmm... seems there went something wrong in my head for a moment. I somehow thought you mean different colour ways for PCE modern.

Is the one in your last picture 1371 from the register? Am I right in that it is NOT the same as 1371 on tartansauthority albeit the same number? Do you by any chance have a piece of the other PCE that you could take a picture of side-by-side?

Sorry to bother you. I'm confused.

EDIT: I think I'm going to bang my head on a wall or something... 1371 is 1371, different. colour. ways. Gosh, I need a beer.

    Ahhh, good old Guinness.

Now: I've seen on your website that you are using Wilsons' colours. Which colour way is the tartan in your last picture? Do you stock this?

    Please excuse my ignorance.

That was a special based on dyes typical of the mid-18th century. This particular length is not a stock colourway but was a special weave for HRH The Prince Charles. If you are interested in custom work please PM me.

    A happy new year everybody!

And thanks for the additional picture figheadair. Although I'm always interested in special things I'll have to pass this time since the kilt will be a birthday present.

That being said, I hope to be able to come back to you one day for a custom weave or maybe even a tartan of my own.

Keeping in mind that i have no genealogical connections to Scotland and therefore to any tartan whatsoever, could I walk around in the highlands, wearing a Royal Stewart, without offending anyone (except THAT guy of course, because there's always THAT guy)?
In my opinion, setting aside all questions of heraldic propriety or impropriety, there are simply far more attractive tartans available out there. I own a couple of objects in Royal Stewart tartan, but I find its crimson rather garish and imbalanced by how small the squares in other colors appear in contrast to the wide expanse of crimson. My favorite kilt is in Robertson red ancient, and is absolutely lovely in faded red with large contrasting squares of Lovat green and blue.

I’d say find something else if you’re not looking for a tartan specific to your location or heritage. In addition to the beautiful Isle of Skye and Scottish National tartans, Kinloch Anderson has a very beautiful private tartan in midnight and umber shades.

Agreed. Perhaps the most thoughtful and the most visually glamorous information on Highlandwear available in the Internet today.

One thing I did not see addressed is regional, locality, or Irish tartan. Isle of Skye and Mar tartan come to mind quickly. Then there are various Scotland tartans. I could go on but you get my point.
