    Recommendations for kilt makers please.....

I'm thinking about getting a new kilt for my 50th. Heavyweight Hunting Robertson Weathered. I live in the South of England. Any recommendations for UK kilt makers? I'd rather not spend a fortune but if I must I'd really like it to be well spent! I've two kilts already - both made in Scotland and both places have since closed down. Looking online, I feel bit lost as to where to start. I'm especially interested in small independent makers. Thank you!

Pat Wallace at House of Tartan Kiltmakers. An ex-Fife lass, she now lives and works from home in Peterborough. You could arrange to go over and see her and get measured on the spot. She makes kilts for most of the better known suppliers and has also done some for the Royals. Good prices too.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I will second what tpa has stated Pat Wallace made my currently first and only kilt, excellent service and a good price, she also supplies all accessories. The only downside to Pat is she won't entertain making anything less than an 8 yarder, I tried and she was quite robust about it.

I will be using Paul Henry kilts for my next one as I want a 5/6 yarder, Paul's prices are also excellent, good work and he is a bit more flexible than Pat.

A second vote for Paul Henry. He's based in London and does excellent work.

Thanks for the recommendations. Both look very good and I hadn't heard of them before.

I had my last made by Yorkshire kilts in Huddersfield and it was a great experience. Very knowledgeable, friendly and good value I think.
