I've been attending the Caledonian Club of San Francisco Games since the 1970s and yes there can be scorchers.

But those are the exceptions. Usually it's warm but not unpleasantly so. Occasionally cool, occasionally very hot.

Happily I missed last year! Among the few I've missed over the last 40 years.

About the Queen Mary Scots Festival, the weather is usually perfect. We have had rain a couple times and cold weather a few times. This weekend has wonderful weather.

One year there was a sudden unexpected blast of heavy drenching rain that caught one Pipe Band just as they were marching to The Circle. Happily I was in the Beer Tent at that moment! We all felt sorry for them and admired their concentration.

Anyhow I'm heading out shortly for the Queen Mary. Those attending, see you there!

Yes, you're right. I don't want to give anyone the idea that it's always miserably hot at the San Francisco Games. 2017 was an anomaly. It can be very warm some years, but as often as not it's very pleasant- the games ARE in Pleasanton!

The weather was very nice and made for a great first visit for me. It had cooled off a bit from recent weather and it was a bit windy. We went on the Queen Mary and I caught an updraft as we were heading down some stairs. I was wearing a Sport Kilt, which are not a good match for updrafts! Fortunately, the area was a bit secluded. I think I need to have a proper tank ready for next year.

Completely true. Our daughter's wedding was a few weeks before, & just a few miles away. It was unusually hot for the date. The opposite was two weeks before, the date the wedding should have occurred (scheduling goof by the venue). It was almost 20 degrees cooler than the norm'.

    Here we are on Sunday

Love the wee ginger lass in the foreground!

Our band started out pretty well, but the blowing began suffering as we went along.

I don't know why the announcer says we wear Royal Stewart tartan. The thing we gave the announcer had the correct tartan listed, Prince Charles Edward Stuart, the tartan of the old 72nd Highlanders.
