Wearing my olive Stumptown Kilt today. Picked up some hose the other day at USA kilts, and dropped by again this evening for a second pair of hose and some flash, to keep them closer to my knees than my ankles. Never been kilted much in colder weather, but the hose really extend the comfortable range of the kilt. My wife is really liking the look of the kilt with hose and sporran. (Yes, I admit to wearing a utility-style kilt with a sporran, but I like the look and find it a lot easier to grab keys or wallet, and major bonus I don't look like I'm groping myself under the kilt when I need them.)

I did have a bit of a laugh to myself. I walked into the local Gas station/quick-mart to grab a gallon of milk, and two kids, I'd guess about 12 years were grabbing a sandwich. They froze for a moment with a bit of a "what in the world am I seeing" look on their faces when they spied me.

So, do I. Though, recently I finding wearing 5.11 Tacticals I'm leaving the sporran off. So many pockets for most all I need. So when I do it's more for the "LOOK".

I haven't worn the 5.11 in quite a while, so I'm not sure if I'd wear the sporran with it or not. I do love the TDKs pockets. Very handy. Sporran and multicam would be an interesting combo.

    sporran with 5.11 tacticals

I have found that this sporran works very well with the 5.11 or other utility style kilts.Click image for larger version.

The new Casual Kilt was perfect for the day. The weather's been in the low thirties *F, heavy snow and blustery winds. But between the hose, the kilt, and a coat I hardly felt it. Sadly the weather kicked up quickly and it was too-late when I realized I should have brought gloves with me. I was able to drop by USA Kilts one last time (for a while) to pick up a belt. Alas I'm more a funnel than a figure-eight, and it's not a great shape for keeping kilts (or pants for that matter) up. I think when I pick up a vest I'll need to grab a few buttons so that I can wear it with my braces.

I was expecting some "aren't you cold in that" but got nothing.
Hoping everyone has a great weekend!

For my Kilted Friday Adventure I strapped on my Scottish Wildcat Tartan Kilt. My college men's basketball team at the University of Virginia the night before had a come-from-behind victory at Louisville which was quite outstanding and received a lot of news coverage the next morning. Although remaining unseen the kilts inner lining added to my pride today.

I slipped out of work early to attend a RV show at the local Expo Center. Maintaining my modesty today was a challenge as most of the US East Coast was experiencing a bomb Cyclone with high winds. As I was waiting at the entrance to enter the Expo Center a rather attractive lady came out saw me, stopped and commented you need to put weights on the pleats today. Before I had a chance to reply a lady's voice behind me said, nay laddie let them blow!

    Phoenix Scottish Games

Setup day at the Phoenix Scottish Games and I was working the vendor gate. Wearing black watch. The park was closed to the public and I had some interesting exchanges with folks that thought it wasn't, but it didn't go as bad for me as others said it did for them in the past. Maybe it's the kilt. Maybe it's because I'm 6'5. I don't know.

    Kilt weekend

Went to a local theatre play Friday night wore my USArmy tartan kilt, green hose and black polo shirt. In the pay a man was hiding from the cops wearing a wedding dress. Part of his lines was a statement to 3 women how great the freedom was in a dress. I just smiled as I was wearing my kilt. It is a great sunny day here in the south 70 degrees F, so I opted to wear the 511 to run errands to two big box stores. Got some looks but no snide remarks. Will wear it out to eat tonight.
