This is what is interesting to me, because I've never worn or handled Marton Mills PV kilting cloth.

I know that to me there's a big difference between the way 13oz wool and 16oz wool feels, and I much prefer the latter.

I would definitely have to agree about the weights,I put on the 16oz. Black Watch yesterday but it was uncomfortably warm so I changed to the 13oz muted Gunn instead, everybody thinks its Irish anyhow so it fit right in for St.Patrick's day. It was only 71° too, so I'm thinking about trying the semi traditional model in PV but have heard its not really cooler than wool because it doesn't breath. I do have the PV in the casual model however and it seems like it is cooler but less breathable. It's much thinner than 13oz. wool and also has no lining, but its very tightly woven if that's the right word for it. I think it's possible that the PV may feel warmer in humid conditions.

I live in the suburbs of Washington DC, and I can assure you that the real MM PV is quite comfortable at 95%+ humidity and 95F+ temps. It seems to breath pretty much the same as 13oz wool.

Not to hijack this thread, but is there a chance those pics could be restored to post #2 of the "1 kilt 10 looks" thread?

    PV in Celtic Nations

    No sweat, GI.

If Celtic Nations is what you want, and PV is the only choice, go for it! I have several Casual/Semi Trad USA kilts, and they are in the same closet with the wool tanks. The PV kilts are awesome! Usually, I wear a wool kilt with the black tie outfit. I have (and will again) worn my PV Semi Trad kilts with the Prince Charlie. The USA Casual isn't Prince Charlie stuff, but for every day and driving on road trips, you cannot beat them.

PV is BBQ and beer resistant. PV is machine washable. PV, as it comes from USA Kilts, is your friend.

Now, I must remind folks: Those of you who wear kilts to church, as I do, must be careful during certain parts of the year, like - now - to minimize the drippings of candle wax onto the kilt.

PV. Wool. Murphy doesn't care. He will find a way to put candle wax on your kilt, or anything else that is expensive on your body. Sometimes, directly on your body, like when a drop of wax hits your properly exposed knee.

but, we are tough. Bless you and happy kilting - Steve
