I prefer my MoD brass-cantle sporran as well, but I'm not sure I would call it the most comfortable of all my sporrans. For one, that brass cantle is fairly heavy compared to an all-leather sporran. I made the bag a bit larger than the original (and bigger than most recreations I see others making too). Once I put my phone, keys, and other stuff in there, it gets heavier than what I would consider ideal. At some point, I will probably have to remake the bag or get another made so I can downsize to something more like the original MoD Culloden sporran size.

But I do love the quick-opening action of that button on top, compared to fiddling with a snap or other front-closure on a flap sporran. The only danger with the top button is that if I lean over to do something, I can accidentally put pressure on that button and open my sporran without realising it. I've caught myself more than once walking around with an open sporran. If I'm wearing a belt, I have to make sure I wear the sporran low enough to allow some clearance for that top button, or it will constantly be opening itself when I lean over, sit down, etc.

I have sweaty hands, and they tend to corrode or oxidise any metals they come into contact with. So I have a devil of a time keeping my brass cantle looking bright and clean. Even if I polish the brass, it will look terrible by the end of the day with greenish fingerprints showing up from where I've touched it. I often debate with myself on whether I should just leave it alone and let it look well-seasoned and dull or keep fighting the battle to keep it looking clean and bright.
