It's William Wallace Day! Who else is kilting up for WWD?

Well, I'm in my Hunting Stewart today, but I can't say its for WWD, every day is a kilt day. The Hunting Stewart just one of my cheap working kilts for changing a tyre on my son's car and collecting a wardrobe - the sort of every day things one does, at least I have to do, in a kilt.

A bit of research indicates that there are initiatives in Scotland to raise awareness of WWD. I think the idea is to have it made a holiday.

Wore my olive drab green 511 kilt for my catheter and staple removal a week after da vinci robotic surgery for removal of cancerous prostate. The nurse said she wished more men wore a kilt for catheter and staple removal because it sure made it easy. I'm on the mend and guys don't be shy have a check up and watch those PSA numbers. (

I plan on celebrating WW day tomorrow, it being Friday and me having nowhere to go after work, save to dinner (and possibly an early Oktoberfest) with my lady.

The day's weather is perfection here in western Massachusetts. I've returned home from the summer in Ireland and Scotland and am jumping into a list of to-do house items. Utilikilt Workman today with a very cool and weather-appropriate shirt from renshirts.com.

Dusty, PM me on where you had your procedure. I know doctors here in Oxford that may suggest kilts for recovery and day of procedure if they knew it was an option. You may start a trend for the medical profession in MS (maybe across all borders).

I've had two-ish hernia repairs. One was nasty, the other turned out to be a huge lipoma causing the symptoms. Post surgery, trying to put pants on with a freshly stitched gash where one bends, was a nightmare. A kilt, would have made life much less painful.

So, I began my kilt day run one day early, due to medical concerns. Upon waking I found a red rash around my waist. Good grief! Never had chicken pox and I got the shingles vaccination a little less than two years ago. But I think it is a mild case of it. Hoping to see the doctor, today.

But trousers and boxers would be riding right on the rash. Wearing the kilt at the natural waist commando was the perfect solution! [Yeah, I hear you - more information than I want to know!]

Made it to the clinic to have my PCP check out the rash on my waist. Kilted in my Scottish Wild Cat tartan Kingussie. Beginning the examination as I opened the kilt, she commented, "Ooh, we have a Wahoo here."



The good news is the rash is not shingles, but a combination of heat and yeast infection. A lesson learned: wash those sweaty yard pants after each use.


She told me her maiden name was Bruce. I told her about the upcoming Netflix movie with Chris Pine playing Bruce in Outlaw King. And Angus MacFadyen is resurrecting his role as Bruce played in Brave Heart with a 2019 movie Robert the Bruce.

Thursday - The local XMTS Rabble lifted pints to the Immortal Memory of Sir William Wallace at Park Lane Tavern on the 713th Anniversary of his martyrdom for Scottish Independence by the infamous Edward I, "Longshanks".

Casually attired in the Clan Ranald ancient. Its a cool-ish, cloudy day so quite comfortable. As for adventures, not usually. But, never know.
