Taking in the jacket at the waist is a fairly simple alteration. My chest size is much larger than my waist, so unless the jacket has an athletic fit, I have to tailor the waist of the jacket so it doesn't look like im wearing a sack of potatoes. I would tailor the jacket as well if I were you. In my opinion, it looks better, and it'll accentuate your smaller waist!!
