For my TGIKF, I wore my Sanderson Scottish Wildcat Kingussie kilt. On of my more recent residents to the gated community where I work, commented, "you're wearing a different kilt today". Yes, I replied I have more than one. My fear of the next how many kilts do you have didn't materialize.
Later in the day, I was at the post office preparing a package for mailing when another customer commented, "someone evidently has Irish heritage". You're correct I responded. ( Now, I consider my ancestry Scottish of the Irish Gael).
She replied back, my great grandfather was a McMahon from Ireland. I told of the Irish Pub in a nearby city of the same name which could be hard to pronounce sometimes. She replied really then went to say it and stumbled her way through it. Ah, the power of suggestion!

It was a tartan Friday and a kilted Saturday as my parish and I played host to the Fall vigil, retreat, convent, and investiture of the Priory of St. John the Baptist, the Wisconsin branch of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ).
On Friday, I wore the tartan tie of SMOTJ as I voted early and took care of other business before 20 people arrived for the weekend.
The pattern is similar to the SMOTJ Hunting pattern found here -- http://www.tartansauthority.com/tart...-htg-corporate -- but with a light blue stripe along with the white.
On Saturday, since I planned to be kilted for the formal investiture in the evening, I just wore the kilt all day. Here I am presenting a brief meditation on Templar history (the real history, not the History Channel "crackpottery" history). Just to be clear, I cannot tell you where the Holy Grail is located.
What I can tell you about is the good work of our Priory and the Order in the USA, which last year donated $475,000 to aid Christians at risk in the Holy Land, especially through scholarships for high school and college students, and to support charitable projects in our local areas.

Not on Friday, but...
...a special occasion. Eldest/first/youngest grandchild was christened this morning at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Walla Walla. On my way out the door, my Airbnb host rather insistently requested that I stop for a picture near a row of his grapes. I assented, on the condition that one of his dogs join me in order to draw fire. So here is a picture of Rose, Dauntless Warrior and Guardian of the Vineyards, accompanying some guy who's absurdly overdressed for farm country.

Waiting on my daughter to send along a picture of little Zara, who was christened (to her mild befuddlement, but without shrieking) in the same gown that wrapped her great-grandfather, her grandmother, and her mother on occasions of their christening services.
Unseen in the picture above are cufflinks that belonged to my grandfather and a ring made by a Dawson City jeweler for my own great-grandfather, who mined the gold of its construction during the Yukon gold rush.

I don't usually go kilted at since it can get a bit messy and I never know when those days come around. However, today for Veteran's Day/Armistice Day/Remembance Day I decided it would be a great time to show up in my USMC Leatherneck kilt. I was a day late to wear it for the Marine Corps birthday but what's one day late for and important day such as the 100th anniversary of the end of the great war.
