Assigned? Assigned? Madame, you have been sadly misinformed. You must have missed my post in another thread
in which I actually admitted I am not as of this date running the universe. According to sources best left unnamed, Wil,
Creag, and Wareyin have been similarly derelict in pulling off such a coup. The last couple of years we have relied on
acquaintances best described as folk who were not there when that didn't happen, as certainly our government would
not be involved in such operations. I have merely consulted with these folk working with shadowy organizations in dark
corners who are trained viewers of remote and/or future occurrences and then revealed who took these roles on the
date we had planned. Nay, nay, assigning would require legendary, even mystical powers, such as those acquired by
professors or school officials and other practitioners of the dark arts. If only we had such a being involved, our planning
would be done. Rumor has it such power did at one time exist in these parts, but, like Washington, this revered being
has receded from the halls of power here into well deserved rest, having declined to seize such power indefinitely. Sadly,
we can no longer rely on assigning roles and relying on the threat that failure to deliver would be forever inscribed
    on our permanent record.

Well, I thought perhaps I could ramble on long enough that a mysterious caped crusader would leap out from behind a
locker and send someone to the office for failure to volunteer, but noooo...... Perhaps if we circle around a table, and,
lit only by candles infused with rare and valuable oils, bow our heads and repeat the ancient phrase "thescot, thescot,
thescot", we can somehow achieve a connection with this amazing being who may still retain the secret of assignment.
Driven by the pitiful plight of mere mortals struggling beyond their station, this renowned, nay, saintly individual may
be moved to reappear out of the mists to hand us a slip of parchment covered in ancient runes revealing how the roles
    have been foretold.

Or, if anyone has a better idea......

Okay, folk. Crunch time, and no volunteers confirmed. Lots of noise and conjecture, but no hard commitment.

So, proposed program:.............. Selkirk Grace (includes welcome) @Wareyin first time up front; we'll be gentle

(No Moan, You Own)...................Haggis Me (this could have been avoided)

.................................................. Immortal Memory @thescot @WClarkB steel cage match - loser presents

.................................................. Toast @Creag or @Wil whoever coughs up fifty bucks is off the hook

.................................................. .Response @AlabamaCelticLass we know we're in good hands, and she blinked first

.................................................. .Songs, Poems Banks and Braes, me

.................................................. .........................AlabamaCelticLass this space available if you want

.................................................. .........................Wareyin Last year Sam said maybe this could be him

.................................................. .........................Jim No need for a repeat of last year's distraction of the ghost of Tam O'Shanter wailing about no invitation

Comments? Wails of distress? Countering proposals? My PM inbox is full, so I'm immune to death threats.

I'll get WClarkB lined up for the Immortal Memory. The list of "performers" sounds pretty good to me.

There are delicate family matters that may preclude my participation at the last minute, so I shall defer to those in a better position to jump in there. I won't go into any details here, but children's welfare, of course, trumps my preferences.

I have contacted Rusty about piping for us. I shall do so again in 5 minutes. He's usually good for it--and the best piper in Georgia--but we need a firm commitment.

Sorry I've been slack the last few days, but . . . oh, well, you know.

The best news yet is the recommitment of the lassie from Alabama. I mean, you guys are all nice an' smart and a' that a' that, but the lassie, well, she adds sparkle and panache to her surroundings. Psst. Tell your husband to call in sick. LOL

Smaller laddies and lassies who might not like the fair can order from the regular menu at a lower price. The 20 bucks only allows a slight profit for the Tavern since they have to go to a lot of extra trouble to cook and set it up.

Dinner will begin somewhere around 6:00 - 6:30, but who knows? There is all that cord running and stuff.

Jim, sad to hear of family issues. We'll hope for smooth resolution.

I do hope Rusty is available. My friend Cliff, who stepped in for us last year, will not be with us this year.
He's in the Atholl Highlanders, and they are having their Burns supper Saturday night as well. They usually
are a little later than ours, but Cliff inserted my "Banks and Braes O' Bonnie Doon" into their program in
the last couple of years. They probably decided choosing our night would spare them.
