The story of the travelling Quaich can be found in its own forum section
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...play.php?f=278
But basically There was once a story written by member Panache about a dirigible taken on a quest to find the source of the world's most prized sporran fur.
That story led to a small wooden dirigible travelling around the world mailed from member to member.
When the dirigible was hangered for the last time we bought a large Quaich and sent it, along with a logbook on an adventure.
The travelling Quaich and its logbook, have circled the globe 3 times. It has been to the beach where the Japanese tidalwave came ashore. It has been interviewed on Australian radio.
Along the way it collected souvenirs of its travels. Small pins, flags, books, Scotch bottle corks, and even an oyster shell.
The logbook records its travels and the autographs of those who have shared it. Even Diana Gabaldon, the author of the "Outlander" books.
All of this is on display for anyone who visits X Marks HQ.

After a fond link re-visit to the great send-off for the Quaich from Victoria all those years ago, may I suggest we do it again during the Victoria Highland Games in British Columbia, May 19, 20, 21? That's the weekend of the Queen's birthday celebration, too (Queen Victoria, by birth date, but in Canada we recognise this as a national holiday for our beloved Queen Elizabeth, as well).
Now I know that Steve and Bobbie will be far too busy at the Games to arrange this with all they are committed to do at the Games already, but we have other members in Victoria. Perhaps Macman: you might call us together? Could this also be a time to bury old bones? Maybe pipe us to a Quaich Signing?
And from there: I suggest the Quaich continue on its way to Kilt Kamp 2019 in the USA (July 21, etc.) and from there by rush to Jock in Lochaber. He could spend a few days with it and then bring it a bit north to meet me (again) at to the Highland Field Sports at Moy Hall (August 2 and 3), and either together or separately, Jock and I could take it on tours of Lochaber, Badenoch, Strathdearn, Culloden....
And it may be that we could entice Peter Macdonald and others in Scotland to join us at Moy .
Just suggestions, of course, and where The Quaich goes from Canada, USA, Scotland maybe we need confirmed dates and occasions, not just "I would love to host"?
If we don't have a schedule beyond September, I am more than happy to bring The Quaich back to its home in British Columbia when I return sometime late in the Fall.

The Moy dates are a no go for me Rex, but I am sure we can sort something out between now and then.

Hello The Rabble all,
It would be an honour to host the Quaich again. Receiving the Quaich last time has lead to a large collection of Quaich. My first one was Christened by pouring a drop from the xmarks Quaich into mine right on the Meridian Line in London. Each subsequent Quaich has been Christened by a dram being poured from my first Quaich.
If I were lucky enough to host it again, some of the occasions I would be honoured to take the Quaich to would be
The World Pipeband championships Glasgow sharing it with some VIPs and the winning band 17th August 2019
Crieff Highland Games 18th August
The City of Liverpool Tattoo 13-14 September. I am thrilled to be helping out there again this year. A huge Tattoo with some great Wuaich sharing opportunities.
I understand that I probably wouldn’t be able to keep it for the full duration but would be thrilled to share it at some of the great events mentioned above should you all see fit?

I will bring the quaich to the Victoria Highland Games on Saturday, the 18th of May.
Anyone who would care to join us in signing the logbook and sending the quaich on another trip around the globe are welcome to stop by the Freedom Kilts tent.
Is there anyone with an event near the beginning of June that would like the quaich next?

Milwaukee Highland Games is June 1, 2019. http://milwaukeehighlandgames.org/
I would be honored to receive it but I'm doubtful at my ability to then attend another event to pass it on.

Passing it on is always wonderful, but I managed successfully to use Canada Post after it had a visit here.
