I don't think it's tacky at all to bring fabric to a kiltmaker, and lots of kiltmakers feel the same way (provided the material is something that the kiltmaker feels will make a good kilt!). Someone just brought me enough tartan for 4 kilts, and I'm happy to make the kilts for them. I figure I'm not in the kiltmaking business to make money from ordering tartan for someone.

Some kiltmakers even flat out refuse to order tartan and ask the customer to provide the tartan. I'm not much on that, because I can typically get tartan cheaper than a customer can. But, if a customer can get it cheaper, it's fine with me (particularly now that the US$ stinks so badly against the British pound!!).

I might be interested, depending on the time frame...
