Stone Mountain Highland Games, Oct. 18-20
If I may take the liberty of starting a thread in reference to the 47th annual Stone Mountain Highland Games (October 18-20)... it's only two weeks away and I simply can't wait any longer!
Will and I have unfortunately missed SMHG the last two years, and we are dying to get back to our anniversary weekend tradition... I can already smell the pine needles falling among the clan tents, taste the haggis and Scotch, see the beautiful array of tartans, and hear the bagpipes and fiddles playing.
We hope to see all of our friends there and make new ones! @thescot @tripleblessed @Wareyin @Creag @rebelrouser
Last time I talked to Jim about 6 weeks ago, Greg at the Celtic Tavern was doing surprisingly well. I pray his health has continued to be kind to him, as he is always so kind. I hope we will all be able to meet there Friday night for dinner and a dram, as usual.
I look forward to hearing from our always kind and generous friends... and I apologize for anyone I did not tag or have not personally had the pleasure of meeting.
Becky

I recommend a meet-up at the Celtic Tavern on Friday night about 6:00 PM on Friday.
Then, at the games, we can meet at the Scottish Tartans Museum tent up next the field about 11:00 AM.
What say ye?
BTW: If Alabamacelticlass is in, I am, too.

BTW: the Friday night meet up is a good time to visit without the pressure of the games. WE can sit and visit and talk and worry about nothing.
Except the tab. There is that.

We can work with whatever times, so that sounds great! We'll be arriving at Stone Mountain Friday morning (or Thursday evening if I can convince my husband to leave when he gets off work)

Then it's a plan for Friday at the Celtic? I hope to hear from Michael (Tripleblessed) and others, too.
11:00 AM on Saturday is a good time since it is before the noon festivities and late enough for arrival.
Unless you get in a traffic jamb and arrive late like I did a couple years ago. I had to post a photo of myself all alone to prove I showed up.

Jim, I'm happy to see we both made it to games time once more. I'm happy to see that You will be responsible for the meet-up (and tab).
And very happy to find out Greg will be able to host us; wonderful outcome.
I will second your recommendation that everyone show up Friday night. Nice to just be with each other with no looming agenda. It'll give
us all the time we need to thoroughly box the ears of our Alabama folk for ignoring us the last couple of games. That gives us
an excuse to kiss and make up and buy another round. By the way Jim, on absent folk, have you any word of Mattie, or Larry Dirr?
Neither has logged on in over a year, and neither made it last year. Worrisome. Hopefully we'll pull in some of the newer folk who haven't
seen the Tavern.
I will not likely make 11:00am. I will have been out there all week setting up, and I almost never get there that early Sat. as traffic is hefty
until about 1:00pm. Our usual later time seems to work well; you and I have both been outside the gate unable to make one, or even one
thirty. I'm a fan of two. But I know others may get there earlier, and maybe better to miss me than them. Or do it twice and see which gets
the best response.

Well, let's do 2:00 then. Or both times. It's pretty flexible as far as I can tell. We should PM anyone who might be there. I will likely be leaving by 3:00 or 4:00, so I would like to hear from our Celtic Lass from west of here.

2:00 p.m. "Georgia time" as we call it , will also work for us. Will and I are very flexible.
I spoke briefly to Lamar via Facebook Messenger, and he plans to be at the Games. He's usually at the Scottish Tartan Museum tent anyway, right? I'll message him again when time is set for sure. I'll also let him know about Friday night, unless anyone else who is closer to him will be in contact with him.
