All prospective Kampers must be able to correctly identify a kilt, two times out of three, without looking in the back of the book. They must be able to successfully demonstrate which end of a needle goes into the fabric first.
Any prospective Kamper who resorts to threading a needle with super glue is automatically disqualified.

    Pretty much what Steve said

Everything in the kind of trad kilt that I will teach you how to make is hand stitched (i.e., not using a sewing machine). If you've never held a needle and thread before, you could practice a little ahead of time just sewing any old thing (like buttons), but you don't need to.

    Skill level?

LOL! I guess I qualify. My mother taught me some sewing skill when I was a wee lad, but I have forgotten most everything. Still know which end of the needle to thread! Most likely between now and then, I will be taking some local sewing classes. I have decided that I want to learn to sew.
