uber ornate Gordons sporran

I just came across this photo of the Military Band of The Gordon Highlanders.

I couldn't help but notice the incredibly ornate sporran of the Bandmaster.

Has anyone seen that sporran style before? I haven't seen anything remotely like it.

It's completely different from the similarly unique sporran worn by the Pipe Major

That is so unique no wonder you've not seen anything quite like it, neither have I. Having said that I'd love to find something like that in a drawer somewhere.

Bill, you really need to pay attention firstly it’s Glen with one n. Secondly, in a drawer not in drawers.

I have never seen this picture, thank you!
But as far as I know, sometimes regimental officers at their own expense bought and gave non-standard sporran to pipe-majors (or maybe, bandmasters too?) to commemorative events. Maybe this is the same case?
I saw such non-standard KOSB Pipe-Major sporran.

I'd like to see that KOSB PM sporran.

Yes there are perhaps one-off cantles that show up.

Then there's the Cameron Highlanders PM sporran that's only worn by that one person in the Battalion, but it seems that the PMs of the various battalions and the Canadian Camerons wear it too.

Here you can see the Camerons PM cantle, and another view of that unique Gordons PM cantle.

One cantle that I've noticed is the one worn by certain senior sergeants in the Argylls, the Pipe Major, Drum Major, and Colour-Sergeant, back in the 1890s. At some point it disappeared.

Never seen one in person, this is the best photo I've seen:
