Hi!
After many attempts and combinations, and I have really tried different variants on a daily basis, I am ready to share the results with you.
I have followed your suggestions and impressions, and I hope you will re-evaluate how successful I have been.
Personally, I think this is definitely a step in the right direction, and you will (hopefully) tell me if it's big enough

My favorite is the second design, I prefer this combination of red and gray (two colors), more than pure red. What do you think?

I’m no authority on tartans but aesthetically speaking, I think the second print you have there is the more pleasing of the two. Looks grand!

I would say we have a winner, at least for now ...
But first of all thanks to the members who commented my ideas, especially OC Richard,
who opened my eyes and encouraged me to make additional attempts and new designs.
Personally, I am very pleased with the result, and to get an impression of how the development went, here are a few photos.

What was never questionable were the colors, and the elements I want to incorporate / weave into the tartan.
Composition is another matter ... I'm going to rest a bit, and then a new set of questions related to this topic will follow...

Here you can see only the choice of colors and the final result of your design.
My personal order is:
1. CLAN (lots of accompanying topics with good advice, realistic display and great color choice)
2. USA Kilts (simple, clear, satisfying)
3. House of tartan (average, basic, strange looking and poor color choice)

Another option is to use Photoshop, you can create your own design or use a plug-in to create the pattern.

I'm not sure about 2 and 3 but I seem to recall that Scotweb assert their rights t any design produced using their software.

I really like that one!!

The larger blue-grey bands give a nice warm/cool balance.
