The origins of the Morrison tartans is one of those frustrating and amusing stories so common in Scottish clan histories. As an interesting recent article on the history of the Morrisons notes;

"The Morrisons have two tartans, one red and one green....There are contradictory and differing accounts about the tartan origins but none have any factual evidence to support them."

Luckily, both the red and green tartans look great . My family has always used the modern green but I have to admit that the red in the muted colour way is very attractive.
