Scottish Snowplows
Just a bit of fun during the Artic vortex. Scotland names its snowplows so you can track them on line. Courtesy of a friend from Ireland.

Good on Scotland's sense of humour. Some of those snowplow names generated a smile.
Around metro Chicago, there are so many snowplows operating this winter, they would run out of names.
Especially if one adds in the tippers (dump trucks), gravel haulers (30 cubic yard semi-trailers pulled by class 8 tractors), front end loaders, backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, rotary brushes...pressed into service to deal with the current "situation."
Quite a number of piles of plowed / moved snow, the size of 2-story houses, "decorate" the landscape. Thousands.

The Michigan Department of Transportation has copied that idea and was running a contest to name the plows. 250 plows to name.

Most counties plough / gritters in the UK are named, two I've seen recently down here in Norfolk are grittygrittybangbang and gritosaurus.
