Something old, something new.
Something old:
I was cleaning out a drawer in my office and found a printed out copy of my wedding photo. 1998. So here is a iPhone picture of a faded inkjet print out for your merriment.

Something new(ish):
After an eBay fever dream, I'm now the owner of a second hand (perhaps third) blue tweed kilt from 21st Century Kilts. I got it for what I believe to be a great price, but there are issues.
The first and most noticeable is that it was clearly sent to a dry cleaner who did not have a clue as how to press kilts. Some of the pleats are in a state.

The second noticeable thing is that there is definite hem at the bottom. Not knowing the providence of the tweed, I suppose it's possible that it was originally sold with a hem, but given their reputation and cost, I would be surprised if it was a hem this obvious. I would expect a more discrete hem on my trousers from an in-store tailor.

The third this is an odd bit that is folded up and stitched right on the first please past the apron. I can only imagine it's a sloppy repair.
The final issue is that it is just too bog. I would say about two inches mourned the waist. I'm not surprised by this, I thought it was likely to be the case, and I budgeted having it resized when bidding. I can hold it up with a belt, but not ideal.
Anyway- I ironed the apron and a few pleats, threw it on with some boots and a waistcoat and present it here. It's a rich blue- some of the pictures are making it look grey/green. I think, once I've got it sorted, I'll love it.

The execution may be sloppy on yours due to the hemming that was done, but it is quite common for kilts to have the bottom edge folded up and stitched at the first pleat. This is to prevent that folded corner from being visible below the apron. Even the best kiltmakers do this on brand-new kilts. Honestly, the fold on yours looks normal to me (aside from the bulk of the hem).

Paco, is that a pocket on your left hip? Does the kilt open on your left?
Just asking.

It is a pocket. There are actually 3 pockets, all sewn into the waistband, two in the back and one in the front, and all can be flipped in so they can be hidden away. The kilt itself opens on the right.

Ok- it’s late on a Friday and my brain is only partly engaged, but I looked back at the photos and confused myself. The kilt does open on the right, but the photos are a selfie taken in a mirror, so everything is backwards. So the pocket you are seeing is actually on my right hip, not the left.
