I've always thought of a pub and casual kilt as being the same: a kilt you won't mind too much about getting food or drink spilled on it, or torn on something.

Just a couple pennies I dug out of the driver's seat.

Yup. That's one definition. My guess is that there are as many as there are members here.

The USAkilts casual kilt is made from less material (I think 4-5, possibly fewer) yards, is made from polyviscose, uses velcro sewn into the waist to fasten the garment, and is made to be worn at the jeans waist (unless the natural waist is requested by the customer).

My experience is that the hang and swish of these kilts (as well as the usak semi trad) is not as good because the fabric is much lighter weight and there are fewer pleats (due to less yardage).

I assume the definition of a casual kilt will vary from maker to maker.
