steve, thank you for putting the effort to post these from your workshop. Are there any YouTube videos where I can see the military rolled in action? To my untrained eye in most footage I can’t really make out which is which from a good distance & see how they perform

Just look for any video of the current Royal Regt. of Scotland. Their kilts are military box pleated.

I have a military surplus RRS kilt (one of the newer ones), and I feel like the military box pleats they use swish a bit more front-back than they do side-side. I think this has to do with how the pleats open (they open front-back, rather than to the left).
I've never seen a military rolled pleat.
