I'll be following this thread. I enjoy a cigar every couple of months but with small kids (and similar outdoor constraints to Father Bill) I rarely find the opportunity to enjoy a full session. For pipes, consider a Peterson lip (check on Amazon). They have the hole on the top of the mouthpiece so you don't burn your tongue so much. Also look hard at a meerschaum. Royal Meerschaum https://www.royalmeerschaumpipes.com/ has some really nice ones at reasonable prices, and while they require a gentler standard of care, they smoke very smoothly and pleasurably. You could get one of each and rotate for a really great and gentle experience.
