I have no particular interest in the technicalities of how a kilt is made – I just care about how it looks and feels. My focus is on the fashion, culture and heritage of kilts in a Scottish context.
But I’m still glad there are plenty of people who do focus on those technicalities, as it serves to help people make kilts which don’t look like absolute garbage
As with all things, variety is the spice of life, and it would be boring and unhelpful if we all had the same priorities.

I came to this board initially because there was nowhere else on the internet that loved kilts so very well. Some 10 years later, I can't say that's true - there are a few other forums where kilts are very well appreciated and admired - specifically on Facebook. However, the level of expertise exhibited by the members here is, on average, much higher than those other forums. In other words, I don't think there is anywhere else on the internet with such a high concentration of kilt geeks, if you will. That's what keeps me here, and that's what I appreciate most.
I don't mind in the least if there are occasionally repetitive threads - on balance, I think they're helpful, and I simply scroll on if I feel like I've already read Steve's take on the matter at hand.
