On the topic of gadgets for holding keys in your sporran, my Thorfinn Rob Roy-style sporran has a spring-loaded clip, like the kind you use to attach a leash to a dog collar. This clip is sewn in at the top of the bag area, so that I can clip my regular keychain onto it and access the keys without digging around. This works really well.

The bag also has a pocket on the back part of the inside that was designed to hold a phone, but it was made in the era of the "flip phone" and is not sized for one of today's "smart" varieties.
