The return of me AND the Glengarry Highland Games, lol
Hello all, I appear as a forum ween today but actually I was a member here for some many years under the user name 'Canuck Of Ni,' which name has lapsed. It'll be interesting to see who's still here from the old days of 10 years ago. As both my former and current user names suggest, I'm descended from a lowland border clan and sport the tartan of Clan Forrester, which a family of Forresters down in the State of Georgia were good enough to organize without benefit of a laird to gather round. Above all, it's nice to be back on the big X.
I guess I've been inspired to take up the kilt talk again by the return of the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville, Ontario, which were of course not held during the covid panic. I really don't think that was necessary last summer but anyway it'll be good to give the old sporran an airing this year; there have been virtually no Scots events held at all, not even Tartan Day which of course is also held outdoors. It's been a long drought.
Back to the Maxville Games, held July 29 and 30 this year and which are one of the largest in North America. Plus, while I don't know what the border closures have done to it, are the games where the North American Piping Championships are traditionally held. All Xers who can attend should consider it!

I don't know, but I'm betting it could be done with this name too.

If so, then contact Steve Ashton - he's the only one who can do that.

It's fallen out that I have to go tomorrow. I'd be interested to hear a review of what you found today.

Welcome back. I would say there had been a lot of change in 10 years, but we still have fun here.
I think you got the nail on the head when you acknowledged that transnational travel had been difficult. How do you organize an event like the games in such a climate? However, the are back and I look forward to spending the day and the skirl of the pipes.
