Hours on the trains with the locals sharing tea or beers and yarns can’t be replicated from inside an auto while concentrating on driving on the wrong side (for American reflexes). It is easier to enjoy the scenery as viewed from the trains, busses and occasional cab. The people really are delightful and your ear quickly adjusts to the accent.
