I'll be there on Saturday. We've had an X-marks tradition of a meet-up for a photo in years past, but the last couple of years enthusiasm for that seems to have tapered off quite a bit.

I have not been to North America, so it follows that I have not been to a North American Highland Games. However, " Stone Mountain" and its games has always caught my imagination and would be the one that I think I would like to visit. I am sure all the other Highland Games that take place over there have their loyal supporters and quite right too, but......... So if there are any pictures of the event then I would love to see them posted on this website.

Ill be taking many photos for my clan society and will be happy to share a selection here. Fair warning that sadly the majestic and massive exposed granite mountain is completely obscured from the festival/games grounds. The pine forests are still lovely and some hardwoods are usually well into their color change. Still, SMHG is a solid representation of a larger, very well-run highland games...of the style on this side of the Atlantic. As it will be their 50th anniversary, I expect turnout to be huge.

I have not been in 30 years but it was always my favourite Games of those that I've attended in the US. There is (was) something more intimate about them. in part due to the location in in the wooded National Part. It is the closest to a Scottish Games that I've been too, and dare I say better than many here. I'd hoped to attend this year's 50th but alas, it was not to be.

Our games are consistently one of the largest games in North America, and, as noted, we expect the 50th to be well attended. Our guiding manager is often asked by other games to tutor them on how to match our success; he tells them it can't be done as they don't have his team. Not patting ourselves on the back, just stating the truth - that it takes a large number volunteers who are committed to showing up, working hard, sticking with the plan, and being flexible. Get yourself involved and enjoy yourself. Come to town a few days early and jump in. At our games or another; we're always happy to see new faces, especially younger ones. I'll be out there all week, as will a lloooottt more folk.

As @Wareyin points out, our XMarks photo has been a little slim the last couple of times, so let's do better this year. I'll throw out a suggestion of two PM at the Tartans Museum booth. Entering the gate off the parking lot, it's to your right down the vendor line. I'll be the guy in a kilt. The guy who can tuck his beard into his kilt; talking, hopefully, to a guy wearing Buchanan. Open to other suggestions. Also, everyone stop by Murray and say hi so @MurrayInGA can get photos to prove they were present.
