In fairness, the designer(s) had a challenging job, given the club colours.
Garish colours in, garish tartan out.
Just for experimentation I came up with a few tartans based purely on two complimentary colours (that is, opposites on the colour-wheel) and here's my blue/orange. With only two colours you're relying entirely on the strength of the pattern.
Operating with no such restrictions, House of Edgar's "Hebridean range" of fashion tartans includes "Leaping Salmon" which is mostly blue and orange-ish and quite attractive
