This sold on eBay this week - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176410831359

And House of Labhran have their own replica versions readily available - https://houseoflabhran.com/vintage-b...llseye-sporran - which retail atabout £100 more than the eBay one.

So they're not cheap..!

There are different versions, with either a pull-up or push-down spring mechanism closure, in all-brass or with nickel dome studs. And with either four or five snap-stud bag mounting.

Whilst they 'look the part' the hinged opening restricts access to the bag, and they're not as practical as they might seem. But the cantles are easily interchangeable, so you can keep a selection of bags and swap them as the fancy takes you.

House of Labhran Replica

Back in the day we used to find boxes of these for a few £'s and no one wanted them. In fact one box was being sold as scrap brass by a scrap yard that contact us. The boys in the regiments hated them as the small access option on the cantle, so they were glad when they got taken out of service.

Things have a changed a over the years. A year or so ago at the House of Labhran we did hand crafted a few of these cantles for a television client. However, the few extras we made have been sold and due to the amount of work that goes into hand crafting these, we will not be making any more. So although we will find originals from time to time we will not be offering any more replicas in the foreseeable future.
