Looking for a specific tartan in polyvis....HELP!
I need to find the Bruce tartan or Bruce ancient in polyvis....all I have found is wool and while I like the wool I live in FL and need something a little more practical for hot weather wear and traveling. I do love the look and flow of a full 8 yd kilt but will start out with a USAKILTS Phliabeg if I can find the material. I do plan on getting a tank made later in the medium weight wool in the Bruce tartan.
Thanks in advance for your help

A casual kilt in wool is NOT as heavy as you might think... and that's from experience. In fact, you'll find that it "breathes" quite well. When you don't have the deep pleating and 16 ounce wool, you're actually better-off than shorts.
Remember too, that wool lasts MUCH longer and is NOT that difficult to maintain. There's no pilling to speak of (as long as it's a quality wool), no fading, and is "bendable" when the kilt is being pressed. That last fact will help the kilt to hang and drape better.
When you can get a casual kilt in wool, you're getting the best of both worlds.

Well for now it's more of an issue of money and time Jimmy. The kilt jones is strong and waiting for wool will be the death of me. I may just go with one of the "open " tartans for now until I can afford the tank I want in the Bruce tartan.

John, won't anyone make you a casual 4-yard kilt in the Bruce wool tartan?
Maybe we need to search the internet and see if there's not a source that you're not seeing. There are HUNDREDS of kiltmakers out there, and most of the best aren't big advertisers... since they don't need to. I have three classically trained and certified kiltmakers within 30 miles of my house. They are MORE than happy to take a persons tartan and make a kilt for a nominal fee.
Don't just give-in until we can find you a source for what you REALLY want.

Thanks Jimmy I am still kinda stuck on my first tank being my clan tartan and at $60 to $70 dollars a yard it will have to wait a while. I am a big guy so we would most likely be looking at at 10 yards or more.
For now I am going to get either a USA kilts Philabeg or Traditional in an open tartan. I don't feel like I am settling or not getting what I want, I'm just waiting to get the "tank" in the family tartan. After all the good things I have heard about Rocky and Kelly I can't wait to get kilt #2 from them the first one is a sportkilt so I really don't count it.
