My goodness! Alec Guinness vs. David Niven; I don't know whether I just need to watch more movies or make an appointment with my ophthalmologist!

I get it about the eyesight! I can't tout this movie enough. I own it on a VHS tape recorded from TV decades ago, and also on DVD. I can't count how many times I've watched it. It is star-studded with many great actors, including Sir Alec, John Mills, Dennis Price, and Susannah York. I tend to watch it now when my wife is out for the evening; she's seen it a couple of times and doesn't want to watch it again. You can get the movie on Blu-ray now, and the book by James Kennaway is worth looking for.
And welcome, Richard, to XMTS!

What film is it from?
Yes the brilliant film Tunes Of Glory.
BTW that scene is a cringeworthy moment because the Corporal does have a girl in town...the Colonel's daughter!
Due to the film being made at a time when most Scottish middle-aged men would have served in Scottish regiments, and the film's subject matter was rather sensitive (what today we call PTSD) they didn't want to use the tartan of any actual regiment, and went with the civilian tartan Hunting Scott.
It does make a fine-looking military tartan!
Oddly, there's a pipe band called Tunes Of Glory, which doesn't wear that tartan.
The film does a nice job of showing the various modes of officer's dress (they spend a lot of time in Blue Patrols) but the piper's outfits show a big "continuity error".

VERY small town about 40 miles south of Missoula, but home to much of the filming of the "Yellowstone" TV series.
Also home to an NIH viral pathogens research lab, situated there because it's at the bottom of the fairly narrow Bitterroot River Valley, in a place not many people live, so if a "bad guy" virus ever escaped, it might not make it to an urban environment.
We lived there during the pandemic. Although much of the town's lawns sported "Make America Great" signs before the 2020 election, they were punctuated by occasional signs reading "Thank you Dr. Fauci."
(Admins please note: this IS NOT a political post, just an observation of what people nailed into their grass in fall 2020)
The 2021 games were among the first large events to return post-pandemic.

Hamilton Ontario is a city of 650,000.
It is Canada's Pittsburg.
It is also the home of the (sometimes) kilted Argyll and Sutherland of Canada Regiment (Army Reserve).
