    Yes the brilliant film Tunes Of Glory.

    BTW that scene is a cringeworthy moment because the Corporal does have a girl in town...the Colonel's daughter!

    Due to the film being made at a time when most Scottish middle-aged men would have served in Scottish regiments, and the film's subject matter was rather sensitive (what today we call PTSD) they didn't want to use the tartan of any actual regiment, and went with the civilian tartan Hunting Scott.

    It does make a fine-looking military tartan!

    Oddly, there's a pipe band called Tunes Of Glory, which doesn't wear that tartan.

    The film does a nice job of showing the various modes of officer's dress (they spend a lot of time in Blue Patrols) but the piper's outfits show a big "continuity error".
