    Twas a cold day

Yesterday I spent the whole day out and about in trousers .. sorry guys. We are going through a very cold spell here in Wales at the moment and I must say my legs have never been so cold. They are good heavy trousers but the wind still cut through them like butter. I certainly missed my 8 1/2 yds of 14oz welsh wool wrapped around me. Today I am kilted by the way and intend staying warm all day .

No need to regret wearing trousers-for oddly it promotes the kilt better than wearing one all the time.

For it shows we are normal men wearing a normal garment as a part of a balanced wardrobe: rather than eccentrics to be ignored as not representative of men in general.

The ideal will be when a man can without needing/wanting to prove anything look in their wardrobe in the morning and decide to wear a kilt or trousers according to mood and what they are doing that day.

Or if wanting a new suit for work-will get one with both a kilt and trousers for the lower half. In other words when it is an entirely normal garment to be worn/not worn without a second thought.

After all who wants to be trapped-be it in trousers or a kilt--it is really about choice: and as you rightly say on a cold day the kilt is the best choice-but for other activities/occasions it might not be.

After re reading my post ... it reads as if I wore my trousers because of the cold spell. Just to say ..I did not. I had to help my pal who is a gardener on two of his jobs which included cutting down a few gorse/stingy bushes and extending a rockery. There was know way I was gonna ruin my kilt doing this. On the way home by the way we called in at a little real ale pub and had a very well looked after pint of draught Bass .. hadn't had one of those in a long while .. Derek

    Derek,

I would wear trousers also if it meant ruining them as opposed to a kilt. Good job in helping your friend, would you come on over and help me trim my trees
