Grinding it Out, Kilted at Work, it Works!
Following Mangus' example of just keeping on keeping on kilted I went back to work kilted again today. Tan UK Mocker, white shirt, Pendelton vest, off white kilt socks worn rumpled down and...gasp, brown New Balance tennies.
Today, my umpteenth day at work kilted, no one said a thing except for a lesbian coworker with a serious question about why I'm wearing kilts all the time. Used Mangus' line too, "I'm celebrating my cultural heritage" then added, its more comfortable to sit in.
Even had a full house in group tonight, from the courts and detox. In two hours of presentation no one said a thing.
Think I only noticed a couple "the looks" today too.
Point seems to be what you guys who have done it already know; You can't give up, ya gotta just keep showing up.
A thanks too for Ham for his great gallery to give me ideas on how to put together a professional look
Yes, had a friend shoot some more pics today, but still eating up the roll in the camera. Not digital yet.

My co-workers (at the bar where I work) probably answer more questions about my kilt than I do, since people are often too shy to talk to me directly. They usually tell me about it later, or tell me to go talk to them myself. No one I work with has a problem with my kilt-wearing. Even the new hires take it in stride, with comments ranging from none to "Wow, I want one of those."

w00t! Way to go, Ron!
Sometimes if I'm feeling cheeky when a lady asks me why I'm wearing the kilt I say "Well why are you wearing pants?" but I only do that when I'm approached with a rude or accusational tone and I just want that person to go away quickly.
Once you settle into the daily grind kilted, the comments are few & far between unless you happen to wear pants to work and then everyone wants to know if the kilt is coming back.

You go!!!
I think its great that there are establishments that afford us the chance to wear our kilts with out making an issue of it. I've worn my Sportkilt and my Stillwater so far with no problem what so ever. Understandably there was some of "the looks" and snickering but I fully expected that as, lets face it, most people don't see a man in a kilt everyday. As Andrew experienced, I think more of my department was asked about the kilt than I. One of my employees told me he wished he had a dollar for every person who asked him why I had it on. I may have to do a FAQ like Magnus did LOL! When all was said and done, I think most people went home having had a better day (certainly not as boring) and with a good tale to tell their loved ones at home.
Keep the faith!

It will get easier and easier. As long as you don't dress up like a clown, you will commend respect from your peers and other professionals.

And if he dresses like a clown, i.e. complete with white face, big red nose, oversized shoes, and fright wig, his critics will either be too shocked to say anything, or laughing too hard to complain.

Somewhat off topic, I can't wear a kilt where I work (industrial work), but I ALWAYS wear my kilt when I go to my favorite bar. I happened to show up in jeans one night, and had to field more questions about why I wasn't kilted than I've ever had about why I was.
(My reason for not going kilted was that we were expecting snow, thus I was expecting to be extracting some geniuses from ditches on my way home and didn't want to get my kilt messy while hooking up straps/winch cables and such.)
