Using that standard, Ralph Lauren Kilts will still be priced beyond the reach of most folk. Probably7 along the line of two or three times as much as a handmades Scottish kilt.

Let's face it. No designer will ever be more prestigeous than the current big names in kiltmaking. Most they can do is charge more for the name brand.

For the fancy pants designers to gain prestige as kiltmakers, they will have to either provide quality at a lower price, or provide a unique design that will appeal to a wide spectrum of people, at a reasonable price.

I'm not a name brand shopper as a general rule, but having a big coture house bring kilts on the market might not be bad.
