another satisfied customer
recieved my SWK HumV(tm) this afternoon!
it really IS heavy. I have never even held a tank so i only have descriptions to compare with. several small flaws in the fabric. looks to this rookie like just regular things that come with a heavier faux wool like this. love the swing of the pleats as i walked with my wife. she thought i walked a little taller and faster with the kilt on! another benifit of the kilted life i guess. both of us are already talking about a non-tartan kilt to schlep around in....and a NICE (xmarks?) 4 yard for really dressup.
the only thing i worry about with the SWK is i get the feeling the pleats just won't stay crisp if i sit caresessly or for too long. OTH i only spent $100 too. Thanks for turning me onto stillwater to start guys!

mac, driving an hour and sitting at a poker table for 4 1/2 hours didn't muss the pleats, still sharp when I got home. Just take normal care to "scoop" the pleats when you sit.

i've worn the SWK-H four times since receipt. i drive over an hour to get to work, pretty much sit all day in my closet and the drive the hour plus home again. so far the pleats have been just fine. just a tad of curl on one or two pleats but i can live with it and it's easy to straighten back out.
i' seriously impressed with the SWK-H and really hope Jerry sees his way to adding tartans.
mac, i'm really glad you are having a good experience with the SWK. in my mind, it is totally worth the price.

I just recieved mine and i'm in awe!
With the price that I paid I wasnt expecting to get such a great product! the SW Heavyweight owns by other kilts (SK and AK) hands down! Until I get a real kilt, this will be my tank hands down...
Plus shipping was only 3 days!
Seriously I'm in awe...

It's just that damn good aint it?
I have had people ask me how much I paid for it... I usually don't tell them. On the rare occasion that I do, they don't believe me or think I am pulling their leg.

Recieved my SWHK two days ago. Unfortunately I got the waist size wrong. It just barely fit on the last hole in the strap. I talked to Jerry and he told me to send it back for an exchange. He should have recieved my UPS shipment by now. Good customer service by the way. I can't believe that Jerry posts his mobile numbner on the web site.
Any way, I took a good look at the heavy before I shipped it back and I am impressed. It looks good and the fabric feels really nice. Unless you get close you would never know that it isn't wool. The pleats are nice and I realy like the hang. My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that I wish that the straps and buckles were a bit more sturdy. But, for the price I am not going to make an issue of it.
Will I wear my Heavy when I get it back from Jerry? Hell yes !! I have wanted a good looking knock around kilt for a while now. I like my UKs and wear them to work several times a week, but its just not the same thing as wearing a true kilt.
Jerry if you are reading this, good work. Oh, and hurry up and slap my UPS return lable on a 34" kilt and get back to me.

I agree about his customer service... very pleasant to talk to, very understanding. I had reservations about the insulating factor of a HW in the Southern California weather (I didn't know how heavy a HW was), and he took it back with no hassle.

I got my SWK-H back from Jerry today. I put it on as soon as could get the basting threads out. I have second all the other comments in this thread. SW really does do some good work. I also found a few flaws in the weave bit I just snipped them off.
I do own a traditional kilt. Is the SWK-H comparable to it? No, my tank was hand made from the finest Scottish wool, tailored to my exact measurements, and fitted by a master tailor. It also cost over $600 and took eight weeks to be delivered. When do I wear my tank? Almost never, hey I might get it dirty or worse.
Will I wear my SWK-H? Yes, all the time. I spent all day today at work wearing it, and I received a lot of positive comments. Will I buy another? Yes again, I like my heavy. It is well made and feels great.
The bottom line is that Stillwater's Heavy kilt looks and feels like a traditional tank, But is still inexpensive enough to be worn as an everyday kilt. I highly reccomend it as either a first kilt or as a good quality knock-around second kilt.

So I'm looking at the website and see that even the heavyweight only comes in one length, 24", way too long for me...but they say it can easily be shortened...at the same time they say the hem is from selvedge...not sure how you shorten the length without losing the selvedge edge...??
Wondering too, if it would be hard/easy to replace the three buckle/belt deals with an upgraded quality leather...?
Does look very good for the price...sorry its too long for this stubby old drunk
