			Kilted in South Bend, IN

I have been interested in the kilt for years. While in Ann Arbor, MI in March, I saw several students wearing kilts made from cotton. Thus started the internet search for such garments. I currently have two Amerikilt kilts which I have been wearing around town on the weekends and after work. I have several other kilts on order from other makers. Having discovered the kilt, I honestly wonder how men ended up wearing trousers.
As expected, kilt wearing here is not big. In fact, I have never seen anyone around here in a kilt (save for the Irish Guard at Notre Dame) going about their every day business. The reaction has been varied, to say the least, and parallels that of others who post to this site. As one who wears a bow tie as opposed to a long tie, as I have done since college (actually since kindergarten if you count the clip on type), I am used to being on the edge of fashion. Maybe I will set a trend going here. I have had people ask where to order a kilt or whether they are "qualified" to wear one.

Hi Rick and welcome from a fellow Hoosier!
Any chance you will be in Ft. Wayne on 11 June for the Games? We're going to travel over that way to see Clann An Drumma, so if you are going to be there, maybe we can meet up.

Ah yes, I remember South Bend. I spent four years at Notre Dame. No, I didn't get to wear a kilt as an Irish Guard, (I'm much too short).
 Welcome from another recent newbie.
