If you like Oi!, check out "The Main Street Saints". They do a GREAT cover of "My Brother Sylvest" and are a generally FANTASTIC OI! Band.

In the celtic punk category, you may want to check out the Tossers, the Skels and Mahones. ***** n onions has a Celtic Punk comp CD for sale that has a LOT of great bands on it. definitely worth looking into.

Check out DKM's video for a song on the new album (not sure if the video is out to the public yet)... Scruffy's wearing one of the kilts I made him! He said that the new album is much better than Blackout and has a lot more pipes in it. It should be great!

I saw Flogging Molly recently on the Guinness Green 17 (or whatever it was called) tour, and they were great. Saw DKM years ago, and will see them again at this years Warped Tour in August. Favorite band ever.

I said it before in another thread, and I will again here, a Celtic flavored band to check out is Black 47. They're a band of Irish ex-pats and Americans from NY. They're music is a capsulated lesson on Irish Republicanism and nationalism, which turns some people off (very anti-British) but a great band, and fun live.

Back to OI!, there's a band called the Lower Class Brats that are pretty cool. Saw them open for the Casualties. They have a Clockwork Orange theme to the band! The Oppressed, my favorite English Oi band, are making new music according to their website. They will NOT be touring America, cuz Immigration won't let them in (criminal records) but they might be touring Canada.

On the subject of Flogging molly...anyone in the Tri-State area (NY NJ PA) and even DE, Flogging Molly will be playing the new House of Blues in Atlantic City at the beginning of August. It's an all ages show, and oughta be a great time.

I saw Black 47 a couple of weeks ago at an Irish Festival. Outstanding, as always. In addition to the Irish and American influences, there's also a heave Reggae influence. While they definitely play a couple of Irish Republican original songs, they're not nearly as much a rebel band as, say, the Wolfetones (who I also like a lot).

Black 47's "Live in New York City" CD is one of my all-time favorites.

    Dublin Irish Festival

    Hi all,

Good to see so many Jig-Punk fans here... I love Flogging Molly (and for a great show, see them when they tour with the Mighty Mighty Bosstones), they're one of my favorite bands. Another great jig-punk band is the Prodigals, from New York. They're a little lighter and more melodious than the DKMs or FM, but they have some great musicians and the lead singer has a voice that could melt Cromwell's heart.

They (and FM) will be at the Dublin (Ohio) Irish Festival on August 5,6, and 7 - here's the music lineup for their "rock stage" there. I'll be there, hopefully working at the Utilikilts booth, and if that falls through for some reason I'll be there ANYWAY. I'll just have to pay to get in and I won't be getting kilt credits.

If any of you can be there, I'd love to meet up with you!

    Jamie

No, not here... but their website is http://www.prodigals.com/ and they have some samples there. A lot lighter than the Murphys, for sure, and mostly lighter than FM, but they kick *** in their own subtle way.
