    Sporran Straps

Does anyone have a pattern for Sporran Straps?

I'd like to make some for my own use, and possibly for future kilt fund raising. I'm interested in both plain and mystery braid straps.

Sorry, when I want one I go to the leatherworkers in the market and choose a nice thin belt.
I bought one last week, $12! it's not worth mucking around for me!

Same here. I got a nice, thin belt from a leatherworker here for about $18, had him cut it in half, add two loops at the ends. Then I went to Orchard Supply Hardware for two dollar and a quarter chromed snap clips. Voila, sporran straps, and BEEFY ones, too.

Pattern? I take two 3/4" (19mm) straps, put a swivel snap on each, put a buckle about halfway around on one and holes for the buckle pawl in the other. If I want a "magic braid" I just strip them into thirds and braid them first. In the U.S. all the hardware can be gotten at Tandy Leather.
