Two Art Openings and A Dragonboat

    Hell-o all,

I know several artists from the coffee shop, and last Friday two of them had a joint art opening at a small gallery here in town. Rose (one of the artists) requested I wear my Maple Leaf to the opening. Of course I did and when I arrived Helene (the other artist) said that with that tartan, it matched the colors they both had in their art. Many great comments and I do mean GREAT comments regarding the kilt. Answered alot of very thoughtful questions and of course I enjoyed giving the answers.

Another friend who is a photographer also had an opening, so I went to his later in the evening. Met many friends who I had not seen in years and again many great comments. I talked to this one guy for a long time about kilting and where to get them and the like, thought I was making headway, when I found out his true motive, he was trying to sell me new carpeting! Oh well you cannot win them all.

Satrurday brought the Dragonboat Festival at a park here in town. It is in a part of town I go to infrequently, so I did have a little apprehension. One of the first people I saw was a lady from you guessed it, the coffee shop. We talked a little bit. Saw plenty of stares but no real comments except for this priceless one. This elderly lady came up to me and said that you must be comfortable. I assured her that I was and then she came back about her needing to get a pair of shoes like I had, I was wearing my Z-Coils.

    A great weekend!

    cutting in ahead of Gman,
if it's the same as here, it's a Chinese cultural event around traditional boat races. The boats have dragon prows and crews of more than a dozen paddlers. They're fun because they're usually inexperienced paddlers trying to work together. We've had them here in London, in Greenway park, great food.

So true Archangel, they are such fun to watch, and because it was a multicultural event one of the sponsors was a local Mexican Restaurant, so kilt wearing fit right in!
