    How very annoying!

I've seen this before, as I was walking up to a store today, a father and son entered just before me. They were both looking at me in the kilt, the father sorta smirked, not quite a laugh, and whispered to his son.

When I entered the store i stood right next to them, as if to say 'well, here I am, speak to me then'. They said nothing and went about thier business.

I felt like saying to the father 'hey, is there something you want to know? then ask me!!'

I do get annoyed with people who don't have the guts to speak their minds in an honest fashion. Human nature I guess.

    Talking Me also##

I get the same feeling of flustation.
I just look at them and say "well go ahead and say it!" 99% of the time I get no reply, but once in a while there is a question or a positive responce. So there are a few people who want to know the truth.

Had something similar happen. Was in a bar and I know a couple were having a muted conversation about my kilt. Don't think they were saying anything disparaging but when they saw me looking at them (not scowling) the guy stopped talking and looked away. I found it rather amusing.

I must admit that I haven't had that happen in a mighty long time. However I have thought of saying something like "you look lost, do you need help with directions?"

    Yes it is frustrating.

My wife and I were at a Columbus Crew game and the lady next to her kept staring at me and trying to talk to her husband about my kilt. He, for his part, apparently looked at it and said something like "huh. Cool." She was apparently not of the same opinion, because she kept looking across my wife's front at me for the entire first half with a disapproving look on her face (I didn't notice... I was watching the game).

Finally my wife looked at her and said "you know, if you take a picture it'll last longer." Apparently she stopped after that.

    My wife rules.

I think the only thing that annoys me these days is when I'm asked, "why are you wearing a kilt?" and "do you play the bagpipes?". Its always women that ask the first question, because the men know damn good and well why I'm wearing a kilt. I've started responding to the latter by just saying yes or why, of course.

    Smile

At the risk of being called rude, I'm calling BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it bothered you when people asked why, then you wouldn't wear a kilt out in the first place.

Not to worry..no more rude than the fellow in Graham's post. Some get annoyed at kilt lifters. Graham gets annoyed at people who whisper and smirk but are afraid to say something out loud. But its not going to keep them from wearing the kilt just as the same old questions are not going to stop me from wear it.

    comments...

Whenever someone makes a snide remark about my kilt, I will usually ask them their last name -- if it's a "Celtic" name, especially a Scottish one, I will chide them for being "ashamed of their heritage" and that they should be wearing one as well!

    Cheers,

    Todd
