How very annoying!

... I do get annoyed with people who don't have the guts to speak their minds in an honest fashion. Human nature I guess.

Like it or not, we kilt wearers tend to stand out in a crowd. And we shouldn't be surprised by any reaction... good or bad. Your right about one thing... it is human nature to question why someone would dare to be different. THe way I see it, we have two choices... We can either roll with the punches or hit back. Perhaps what we need is a T-shirt made up with a snappy answer to all those stupid questions that people have a tendency to ask or or whisper or think about!

I have been wearing my kilt for 2 months now (mostly weekends). The most feed back I ever received was from 3 teen boys.
It went a little like this.
“Dude, do you know you are wearing a sk**t”? I said, “No, it is a Kilt!”
“Hmm a “kilt” he said. His friend said, “Yeah it’s a Scottish Kilt”
(I was wearing my UK’s, so really it was American made Kilt.) The first guy looked at me again and said” Wow a real Kilt, that’s really cool dude, I really like it.” I thought to myself , Hmm you didn’t 2 seconds ago.

yes, well, as stated it those who say nothing that annoy me more.

Most of the time people look at me and then look away very quickly. I notice that I make less eye contact with someone when I am wearing my kilt.

... "kilt night" is entering my vocabulary more.

Another of my favorites is "Family gathering" or "supper guests"... something simple for simple minds to grasp.

My typical answer to "Do you play the pipes?" question is..."No... I just do the judging". Leaves 'em blank every time!

my story.... I was stopped in at Walmart to pick up some batteries. A boy aout 8 grabbed his fathers shirt tail and said in a whisper as 8 year old boys do (quite loud), ""hee that guy is wearing a dress". I walked to another isle, the father grabbed the boy and walked over to me. He said excuse me but my son said you were wearing a dress, would you tell him what your wearing. I said sure, so i explained my kilt, sporran and sign duh and a few other things about kilts... along with that men wear kilts and women wear skirts and dresses. Them being african american I asked him if he has ever seen what some men in Africa wear, he said yes.. I stated that it just a national dress of some cultures, that are differant from what we americans wear. His father shook my hand and said thank you. I shook the young mans hand and told him to have a great day.
As i was leaving I heard his father also tell him, he never wanted to hear him make fun of what people wear, because you also would not like them to make fun of the clothes you are wearing. Your lucky that your mom and dad can afford to buy you nice clothes, not every one can.

thats it.. So when you wear a kilt expect looks and comments, and remember "real men wear kilts"

I had thought of the t-shirt idea but, for me, it's like wearing a kilt and a Scotland emblem shirt. It's redundant, but I still revisit the idea from time to time.
