    One fine Sunday...

Since Sunday was such a nice day, the wife and I decided to take a ride up to New Hope, Pa. I wore my putty AK with a leather sporran. The town of New Hope draws a pretty eclectic mix of people so I thought it should be an interesting outing.

Within 5 minutes of parking the car we passed a trio of young Hispanics who took one look, laughed, and kept on walking. No big deal. Especially considering how they themselves were attired.

We continued on and sure there were some looks, but no comments. We eventually arrived at one shop that I enjoy visiting. Can't recall the name but it's the one that sells swords and period clothing. After browsing for a few minutes, the shopkeeper says to me "I like your Amerikilt." We then got to talking and she admitted to my wife that she thinks men in kilts are sexy. Where are those Hispanic kids now?

On the way home,we stopped at my sisters house for a visit. This was going to be the first time around my family kilted so I didn't know what to expect. Immediately getting out of the car my sister says "Kids look, Uncle Ron is wearing a skirt!" They of course started laughing and asked why I was wearing a skirt. I told them it was a kilt and they seemed to understand and proceeded to tell me that I looked like a soldier. After that it was business as usual. It didn't matter what I was wearing as long as I kept playing with them, I was still Uncle Ron.

Good story Uncle Ron! It is nice to know that once kids know what to call the garment, you still are the same person you were before.

That putty AmeriKilt is one fine color. I enjoy mine. Its that War 2 Khaki color, probably where the soldier comment came from...maybe an association with Band of Brothers which is certainly appropriate.

Think you out machoed the Hispanic gentlemen...

Great story, isn't life exciting in a kilt? Think how ordinary that same outing would have been in pants!
