Since I have not been able to attached photos on this site you can go to my profile (lrpddrummie) in the members list and see a picture of my Satire kilt. As far as the Union (JacK) flag I think if your base kilt is done in the colors of UK then you could avoid some confusion, but there will always be somebody who will let their ignorance show and make a stupid comment.

I would like to see the law as it is written that prevents one from making clothing that looks like the American Flag. It is common misconception that is illegal to desecrate the flag (Texas vs. Johnson (a 1989 Supreme Court decision) ruled that those laws are unconstitutional.) I would assume since it is illegal to use the flag in advertising (The Supreme Court decision Halter vs. Nebraska 1907 held that you can't use the flag in advertising.) that it may fall under that ruling. It would be interesting to see the actual law.
