You can spend that kind of money just to be one of the sheep who follows fashion trends which will be forgotten and out of style in about 5 minutes, or you can wear a kilt, make a bold statement about who you are, and probably be remembered by many people you might run into for a long time!
Wear your kilt proudly, but carry a big stick

A very valid point, my experience being of the more traditional versions: and of them I can truly say that a well made kilt of a reasonable weight will last a lifetime-and stand up to wear which would have jeans/moleskins in tatters.

Wasn't there a story some time ago about a family called Smith that spent all their time keeping up with their next-door neighbours called Jones? The thing ended with the motto, "Don't be a Smith, Be a Jones!" My feelings about the jeans people, and the kilt.

Too funny
My O.H.'s brother is a cowboy and we have joked with each other about sheep for a very long time. We even exchange humorous sheep related gifts at Christmas and we'll start argueing over who has claim to which field of sheep just to mess with those not in on the running joke.
Now I can tell him why my kilt is so much better than his jeans! 8-)
