Actually, there is a sub-group in the 501st. The Kilted Trooper Brigade.

The only requirements are that you are currently an active 501st member and you have or plan on getting a kilt.

Here's a few pics from Star Wars Celebration III and this past Dragon*Con.

Oh, and while I'm at it, what do you think of my new sporran?

    :-D

This thread had gotten me thinking about doing a Bounty Hunter outfit around my postal blue utilikilt. It should allow me with more creative freedom than Storm/clone Trooper costumes.

Hey, I'm in the Florida Garrison, and just ordered a Black Watch Kilt as my Christmas gift to myself. Been wanting one for awhile. I see my Garrison CO, Scott is in the first picture, and have seen him in his black utilikilt on occasion. I was wonderin how to get in the KTB? I can't find a website or discussion group for them on the web.

    Cheers,
    Gary (TD3150)

Three or four people show up at the local Ren-fair in stormtrooper wear. I'm not sure I want to spend the extra money for a kilt that would fit around a star wars outfit. I've got a question. Are those outfits not very hot during the summer? How do they live in those things?

Well, the white parts are plastic, and plastic doesn't breathe.

However, if you look closely, you'll see that none of the joints are covered, so there is some "breathing" room available.

I've longest I've worn my armor is about 4 hours. We were inside an air-conditioned store during that time. When I took the armor off, I did notice that the insides of my shin and thigh pieces were wet.

The helmet isn't too bad. The design allows quite a bit of air flow to move around the head.

My Royal Guard (the red guys) does not allow for air movement at all. I need to do some more modifications on that one.

When you talk to the troopers, though, you'll find that we're willing to risk the discomfort for the smiles that bring on other's faces. I just love the looks on the kids faces as they run up to us to give us a hug or something. It's great.

As far as making a kilt fit, as I've done the altering to the tank I made, I made sure that I made it so I could wear it over the armor. Haven't done so, yet, but someday I will.
