I agree, it does look like the one from SWK. I still don't know if I could wear it though. From a distance it doesn't look "kilty' enough for me. Sure it's awesome up close but who is going to get close enough to me to tell that it is actually black-on-black rather than a solid black skirt?

Many of us will have our own personal threshold of acceptability where kilt design is concerned. Tartan kilts are obviously "safer" to wear than plain because of the association with Scotland and its proud traditions. But to be sure, a solid color does not make a kilt less "kilty".
Even those of us with solid color kilts though, still have a threshold of acceptability where certain colors are concerned. The black on black and navy on navy are a wonderful transition between the solid and the tartan... and a real confidence booster - for those that need it.
