Same characters (minus one) and a continuation of the running plot of the TV program. The reviewer in the Chicago Tribune stated that he felt that if you were unfamiliar with the TV continuity, you would be brought up to speed by the first five minutes of the movie. Sadly, it look like one of the most intriguing characters, the Shepherd as portrayed by Ron Glass, is missing from the movie...I've got the DVD box set "Firefly, the COMPLETE series"...complete!...only because it got cancelled by a network that did everthing to submarine it (ran episodes out of order, etc.). The set contains three episodes that were un-aired...haven't been able to sit down and watch the last three or four episodes yet so the question of the Shepherd's disappearance may lie in the TV continuity.

Great Sci-Fi, some funny stuff and a pretty good premise...plus a couple of really charming actors. See the movie and if you can scare up a copy of the DVD collection, you'll enjoy it.

First, Book is not missing from the movie, but the many browncoats are still not really happy with what goes on with him in the movie. For the most part the movie doesn't have the ensenbleness of the series as it mostly involves Mal, Simon and River. However Kaylee does have the best line ever. And Jayne is still Jayne.

Second, you should not be to confused by the plot as a summary of sorts is the first 5 min or so.

Third, go see it. It is the best SF movie since the original Matrix. I'm hopefully seeing it this afternoon (I saw one of the sneaks back in July as well).

Not to mention that Nathan Fillion (Cpt. Mal Reynolds in Serenity) is one of us.

I think the leather kilt is a TFCK, but no one has actually confirmed this.\ (I know it is not a UK or an RKilt)

Adam, I can assure you that Nathan's leather kilt is NOT from 'TFCK'. Howie's kilts are pretty much the same basic design as the traditional Scottish kilts of today - they are made by traditional kiltmakers who have undergone years of apprenticeship or study in the kiltmaking craft. Nathan's kilt is obviously of a contemporary design, but it's not one that I immediately recognise. Mind you, with that over-long jacket we can hardly see the kilt ....... he needs an Advisor! ;)

Ah, but I do now! It is a Museum Replicas 'Warlord' model. See the nearby thread headed "Practikilt".

Damn! You beat me to it! As I was sitting here I suddenly realized where I had seen that snap configuration before.

As posted elsewhere, I don't think this is a Practikilt. They are a new addition to the kilt world, and this pic is fron Dec of last year. Here is another pic

You can see that the pockets are bigger than a practikilt and the belt loops are different.

Er, Arrogcow? Much as I am amused by Buffy, how is she a pseudo-practikilt?
